Made by five 17-year olds with ambitions, Everywhen is Norway’s first science fiction feature film in a decade.
Made on a shoestring budget of 55.000 NOK (around 6500 euros) and approved as a college project, Everywhen premiered in Oslo in January 2013 with three screenings at a small cinema, and last week the DVD and BluRay were released released in Noway. The five young creators spent their Easter holiday and three weeks of school time to shoot the film, which included shutting down Oslo’s main street for two hours one Sunday while employing 100 extras. -The advantage of science fiction is that we can use unlimited imagination. And there has not been so many Norwegian sci-fi movies. The genre is not big in Norway, but we made this movie in English, co-writer and co-producer Eirik Moe said to OsloBy.
The school project / indie movie has been praised for managing to squeeze a lot of quality into the low budget production, but it also set a Norwegian record; the youngest director ever for a feature film.
Everywhen is set a few decades into the future, when teleporting is as normal as buses and trains, and schools have been replaced with small chips containing knowledge. It’s like living in Utopia, until several million people are reported missing, and technology starts failing, bit after bit. The main character finds himself in the wrong dimension, and must find a way back so he can prevent his brother from dying.
